Description
A tapered down mummy bag for cold British nights, offered in eight fill weights from a summer 400 g to a 2 kg expedition bag. The tapered shape holds less air than a rectangular bag, so your body heats a smaller space and each gram of down goes further.
Choosing the fill weight
Fill weight is the mass of down inside the bag, and it is the figure that decides how warm it sleeps. More fill means more warmth and more packed weight, in that order.
- 400 g — mild summer camping, hut-to-hut touring and warm-weather trips that need low pack volume.
- 600 g — late spring to early autumn three-season camping in the UK, and general mild-weather use.
- 800 g — cool three-season nights and shoulder-season trips, when the ground cools overnight.
- 1000 g — cold autumn and early winter nights, and exposed pitches where conditions turn chilly after dark.
- 1200 g — winter camping under canvas, where reliable insulation makes the night.
- 1500 g — cold winter wild camping, frozen ground conditions and static basecamp setups.
- 1800 g — sub-zero camping, and for anyone who naturally sleeps colder than average.
- 2000 g — cold-weather expeditions and high-altitude use, for maximum insulation density.

It opens out flat
Unzipped all the way round, the bag lies flat as a quilt or a ground mat — useful in a van, in an awning, or as something warm to put a child on. It packs back into the compression sack that comes with it.
On cold ground
Down compressed under your body loses much of its loft, so the underside of any sleeping bag insulates you barely at all. To ensure optimum warmth on cold ground, we recommend combining this bag with an insulated sleeping mat.
Care
Store the bag loose, never compressed. Wash only when necessary, with a down-specific detergent on a gentle cold cycle, then tumble dry on low heat with two clean tennis balls until the fill separates completely — expect two or three cycles. Do not dry clean.

UK VAT and import customs are pre-paid by us under DDP terms. The price at checkout is the final price and the carrier will not ask you for anything at the door.
Returns — 30 days, no reason needed
You have 30 days from delivery to return an item — twice the legal minimum under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. No explanation is required.
The item must come back unused, with tags attached and in its original packaging, including any stuff sack or storage bag it arrived with. Checking the size and the fit indoors is fine and does not affect your right to return.
Email support@northernwarmthgear.com with your order number and we will reply within one working day with a return authorisation number and the return address. Return postage is paid by you unless the item is faulty or incorrect.
Refunds go back to the original payment method within five working days of the item reaching us; your bank may take a further 3–5 days to show the credit. If an item is faulty, wrong or never arrived, we refund the full amount including any delivery cost you paid — send us photographs and you do not need to return it before we act.
Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected.

Which fill weight should I buy?
This bag is offered in eight fill weights from 400 g to 2000 g. 400 g suits mild summer nights; 600 g and 800 g suit British spring, autumn and cool three-season use; 1000 g and 1200 g suit late autumn and winter under canvas; 1500 g and above are built for cold winter, sub-zero nights and expedition use. Yes, if you are sleeping on the ground.
