The same mummy bag as our three-season model, built with between one and a half and two kilos of duck down in it. This is the version for frost on the inside of the flysheet — hard winter, exposed pitches, and anyone who has spent a night shivering and decided never again.

Choosing the fill weight

Our own guidance, not a tested rating. More down means more warmth and more bulk, in that order.

  • 1500 g — British winter, snow on the ground, wild camping in January.
  • 1800 g — hard frost and long nights, or if you sleep cold.
  • 2000 g — expedition use and altitude, where being cold is not an inconvenience but a problem.

Below 1500 g, see the three-season bag instead.

It opens out flat

Unzipped all the way round, the bag lies flat as a quilt — useful in a van or an awning. It packs back into the compression sack that comes with it.

No temperature rating

This bag has not been laboratory-tested to ISO 23537, so we do not print a comfort figure. At this fill weight the honest description is: colder than most people will ever camp in. Here is why we say it that way.

Care

Store the bag loose, never compressed. Wash rarely, with a down-specific detergent on a cold gentle cycle, then tumble dry low with two clean tennis balls until the clusters separate. Do not dry clean.

A number we did not test is a number we will not print.

This bag has not been laboratory-tested to ISO 23537, so a comfort figure would be a guess dressed up as data. Across this price band you will find the same physical bag advertised as −10 °C by one shop and −20 °C by another.

Use the fill weight instead. It is measurable, it is on this page, and it compares directly against bags that have been tested.

Straight talk

It ships from our partners in Asia, and it is priced accordingly.

That is why the same specification costs less here than on the high street, and why it takes 7–14 working days instead of two. Tracked the whole way, taxes settled at checkout, nothing to pay at the door.
